

A gameplay livestream in September 2021 revealed that skin will now peel, so it won’t be necessarily as easy as pointing your laser cutter and making a clean cut. While the series’ signature limb removal will remain, EA Motive is going meatier (pardon the pun) in the Remake.

With the closure of original developer Visceral back in 2017, the team behind the remake is EA Motive. The remake was originally revealed last summer. The game will release exclusively on the newer generation of consoles, so that’s Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.

The inner conflict between the publisher and developer ended up contributing to the franchise's untimely demise. EA wanted to take the game in a new direction while Visceral wanted it to return to its survival horror roots. The franchise's spin-off titles, Dead Space: Extraction and the 2011 mobile game Dead Space, received generally positive reviews from critics, whereas reception towards Dead Space Ignition was generally unfavorable.ĭead Space 3 suffered from an identity crisis. With the closure of Visceral Games in 2017, the franchise was left without a managing developer.
